RiffWorks T4

February 6th, 2010

Hey everyone, its been crazy here at PBP the last few months. The site has been getting lots of traffic and I appreciate all your kind words of support!

I wanted to take a minute and talk about a program that I use called Riffworks T4 from Sonoma Wireworks. This is a great little app. Right now I use the free version, but am thinking that upgrading to the full version may be in order.

If you are not familiar with the program, it lets you record layered riffs that can be arranged into songs. One of the cool features is the “instant drummer” which is a part based drummer with a lot of options. The free version comes with a demo kit, and it has let me download a free kit with a coupon code. But the full version comes with 9 kits. And there are like 100 more you can download from their site at $9.99 each. The standard version of the program is $129 but has some cool features (like amplitude2 live). Check them out here:

Even if you just use Riffworks as a metronome replacement, it is worth the download. If you stick around for quick recording, it’s even better.

Free Printable Chord and Scale Paper

December 18th, 2009

In teaching guitar I spend a lot of time teaching my students chords and scales. I have several pages that I have made up with chords and scales on them, but they are a bit much for the beginner. Too many chords or too many scales that it is hard to focus. So I generally like to write out the couple of scales or chords that I want them to practice for that week on a sheet of paper. But again if I make them too small they are hard to read from. So I created some nice sheets you can print off with 9, 4 fret chord blocks and 6, 8 fret scale blocks. So I hope there are helpful to you.
